Karku

Karkú, in the language of the native “Mapuches”, means “coming from the other side of the big water”. That is the concept that inspired the name of the brand: the dream of the team to take their wines to every single corner of the world, along with their efforts, their land and the passion from everyone that makes Karkú possible.

Most interestingly, Karkú relies on the 28-day lunar cycle to understand their vineyard. During the waning period of a crescent moon, the rhythm of the tide and sap flow decreases, making it the most ideal time to prune, such that the vines heal quicker. Similarly, the full moon is the best time to bottle wines, as the higher pressure of the environment gives for higher intensity and colour in the wines.

This attention to the lunar cycle, as well as native tradition, can thus be seen in the names of their best wines— Nocturnal, Ancestral, Mistico and Crepusculo.
